Blog Entry 6: Brand Identification

The brand I Identify with is something that has been with me a long time and is still currently on my feet. I have been skating in converse for about twenty some odd years. The brand has definitely gone through a lot of changes since I was kid. I am a lot older since then and my feet react a lot different to the shoes I wear. I have stuck it out with converse throughout the years. The designs
have changed and even the level of comfort has changed. There are still the same old cons that I remember that are the classic design that will probably never change. Converse have always been a no brainer because they have always been fashionable, cheap, and look better when there beat up in my opinion. However now that skateboarding is so mainstream and seen more and more. Converse had to cash in this, I mean why wouldn't they. Like I said earlier I been rocking cons forever hopefully that wont ever change. Unless they make them more expensive then they already are.

This is me in 1986 skating in converse and back then there were no skate converse they weren't high tech at all they were just the plain old converse. I have been buying these sneakers for years the reason why is because they can take a licking and keep on ticking. I must say they were not as comfortable as they are now. Thinking back,  I guess it did not matter it was basically all my mom could afford. I think then they were like twenty dollars at the most. I always got them and wore them basically until they were falling off my feet. Not the best option for winter and you certainly have to be accustomed to them. Nowadays I cant wear the old converse like the ones in my picture they are just to hard on my feet. Since then converse has made a name for itself in the skateboarding industry. Recently converse was bought out by Nike and they have taken the skateboarding line to a whole other level. They skate converse line are so comfortable I swear by them and wear them daily. The soles show in this picture are called the lunar line. Converse now has a memory foam lining for the sneaker making it a lot easier and safer on the feet for skating. I constantly  say all the time "where the hell was this .... when I was a kid, these kids nowadays got it easy!".

In conclusion this brand has been my brand for a long time and I am glad I stuck it out, because they have certainly evolved since I was a kid. Converse has become huge in the skate game and I am glad because its about time they got there due for skateboarders like me who skated in them. They are still cool as ever and still look great when they are beat to hell. I know a lot of guys who use skate cons. There are other brands such as Vans,Adidas, and even Nike has its own skate line. I have tried Nike's line and they are cool too they use the lunar line also. I just prefer converse for some reason and it is merely a fashion statement now. My final thoughts are enjoy the ride be safe and happy skating, because these sneakers rule!
